Ada J. Bower, 94, formerly of Muncy, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Frey Village Nursing Center, Middletown.
Born March 24, 1922 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Florence (Shook) Houseknecht. She and her husband, Robert Kenneth Bower, were married 34 years before his death in July 1985.
Ada was a graduate of Muncy High School. She worked at the former Sylvania, Montoursville and retired in 1984 from International Furniture, Montoursville where she worked as an upholsterer.
Ada was of Christian faith.
She was a member of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies.
Ada enjoyed playing Bingo.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Alice and Raymond Hawke, of Middletown and Mildred “Tootie” Harner, of Pennsdale; five grandchildren, Tiffany Nail and her husband, Matthew, Mark, Kenny, and Ann Harner and Melissa Orr; and one great-grandson, Zane Nail.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Dick Harner, a brother, Albert Houseknecht and a sister, Alberta Walton.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert W. Rice, pastor of Muncy Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Frey Village Nursing Center, 1020 N. Union St., Middletown, PA 17057.
