Alice Elizabeth “Kitty” Snyder, 96, of Montandon, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born April 28, 1920 in Montandon, a daughter of the late William Albert and Lulu (Heimbach) Murray. On October 20, 1946, Kitty married Theron L. Snyder and they celebrated 44 years of marriage before his death on October 20, 1990.

Kitty was a 1938 graduate of Montandon High School.

She was an accomplished pianist and organist. In her early years, she entertained her friends and family with highly decorated piano music. Kitty was a member of the Montandon Baptist Church, where she was the organist from the 1950’s until she was 91 years old. Her stride-piano style was joyous and lively and inspired many local musicians.

Kitty worked for many years as a seamstress in Northumberland and held several part time jobs including a hostess position at The Farmer’s Best Restaurant, Lewisburg.

She enjoyed traveling and going out to eat with her friends and family.

Surviving are 10 nieces and nephews, who she considered to be her “Kids,” Ruby A. Schaeffer, of Elizabethtown, Nancy W. Hendricks,  of Flintstone, GA, William A. Murray III, of Portland, OR, Roxee L. Beaver, of Lake Winnebago, MO, Barbara A. Beakley, of Lancaster, T. Shane Murray, of Montandon, Betty Jane Rovenolt, of Milton, Frank H. Cousart, Jr., of Boilings Springs, Todd E. Murray, of West Hollywood, CA and Jan M. Kline, of Mifflinburg.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, William Albert Murray, Jr. and two sisters, Sara M. Cousart and Mary Jane Boney.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Montandon Baptist Church, 257 Main St. Montandon, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Ron Wagner, officiating.

Burial will follow in Montandon Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Montandon Baptist Church, 257 Main St. Montandon, PA 17850 or Columbia Montour Home Health and Hospice, 410 Glen Ave #200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of Kitty’s caregivers, Beverly, Linda, Ruth and Megan.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg.
