Allan W. Sampsell

Allan W. Sampsell, 78, of 360 Vine St., Milton, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born October 5, 1935 in Watsontown, a son of the late George T. and Verna K. (Tresfger) Sampsell. On June 28, 1958 he married the former Ruth Bingaman, who survives. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.

Allan was a 1954 graduate of Watsontown High School. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marines.  Allan retired from the maintenance department of the former Milton Steel and Cargill.

He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Milton.

Allan enjoyed drawing, painting and creating art.  Much of his painting included many signs for local businesses.  He was also well-known for sketching cartoon characters.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and David Nall, of Ohio and Yvonne and Brian Miller, of Florida; one sister, Genevieve Evans, of Ohio; and four grandchildren, Matthew and Danielle Mutchler, Lexie Nall and Vincent Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a half brother, George Sampsell.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown, with his pastor, Damien C. Brooks, officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Allan's name be made to the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd. Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
