Allen R. Bilger

Allen R. Bilger, 70, of 1165 Penn St., Milton, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born December 7, 1944 in Lewisburg, a son of Venetta (Gotshall) Bilger, of Watsontown and the late Kenneth B. Bilger. On November 30, 1963 he married the former Giuseppina “Josie” Reitenbach, who survives. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Allen was a 1962 graduate of Lewisburg High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Allen worked for close to 30 years as a police officer and corrections officer at numerous police departments and prisons.

He attended the New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, Lewisburg.

A life member of the NRA, Allen loved hunting, shooting and fishing. He was also fond of showing his 1987 Dodge Ram Pickup truck at auto shows. Most of all, Allen loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending their sporting events.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a daughter, Pam Delcamp, of Mifflinburg; a son, Kevin Bilger, of Milton; three siblings, Kenneth E. Bilger and his wife, Carolann, of Shamokin Dam, Sharon Frykman, of Lewisburg and Donald E. Bilger, of Milton; five grandchildren, Felicia, Tierra, Schai, Travis and Anthony; and four great-granddaughters.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with his minister, Pastor Dave McCarty, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Montandon Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the New Hope Lutheran Brethren Church, 205 S. 14th St., Lewisburg, PA 17837 or to the Milton Public Library, 541 Broadway, Milton, PA 17847.
