Arthur Richard Borden

Arthur Richard Borden, 86, of 925 Tower Rd., Mifflinburg, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, Delaware.

He was born May 13, 1929 in Mansfield, a son of the late Theodore and Grace (Earley) Borden. On June 17, 1950 he married the former Audrey Cornell, who survives. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Arthur was a graduate of Ulysses High School. He attended Bucknell University from 1946 to 1950, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Arthur served honorably in the U. S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.

In 1955 he became owner and CEO of Lewisburg Builders Supply Company, where he continued to work until his passing.

Arthur was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewisburg. He was also a member of the E.B.M.D.A. (Eastern Building Material Dealers Association).

For 43 years Arthur enjoyed time away from home at Fenwick Island, Delaware.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Robert) Rapp, of Lewisburg and Elizabeth (Michael) Griffin, of Mifflinburg; and six grandchildren, Robbie (Lauren) Rapp, Laura and Claire Rapp and Sarah (Devon) Lehman, Rebekah (Trevor) Flanick and AJ Griffin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Charles and one sister, Dorothy.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, 51 S. Third St., Lewisburg, with his pastor, the Rev. MacKenzie Scott, officiating.

Burial will be held privately in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 51 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
