Arthur Franklin Smith, 87, of White Deer, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
He was born March 11, 1928 in White Deer, a son of the late George E. and Mary (Chappel) Smith. On October 22, 1948 he married the former Miriam Beatrice Derr, who survives. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Arthur retired after many years working at the former Milton Manufacturing.
He was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, White Deer.
He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Jason Smith, of White Deer; two daughters, Valerie Scanlon, of Turbotville and Mary Moser, of Watsontown; one sister, Mary Jane Smith, of Jamestown, NY; four grandchildren, Jason A. Smith, Eric B. Smith, Heather Scanlon and Blair Smith; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Jeff Smith; three brothers, Clarence, Asa and Alfred Smith; and three sisters, Caroline Bobb, Taletha Steininger and Alma Stahl.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Robert O. Rice, Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Arthur's name be made to Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 51, White Deer, PA 17887.
