Barbara E. Fraley, 81, a longtime resident of Muncy, died peacefully surrounded by her family, Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Oak Glen, Lewisburg.
Born August 26, 1943 in Turbotville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Sarah V. (Miller) Keister. On June 14, 1964 she married George A. Fraley, who survives. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Warrior Run High School, where she was a majorette in the high school band. She worked as a cashier at the former Lowe’s Market, Clarkstown for 34 years, retiring in 2005.
She was a member of the Clarkstown United Methodist Church. Barbara was a member and past worthy matron of the Monsey Chapter #481, Order of the Eastern Star and a past Mother Advisor of the Monsey Assembly #138, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, receiving the Grand Cross of Color in 1980. She volunteered to work in Altoona for the Grand Assembly and at the former Muncy Creek Township Fire Company carnival running the cake wheel for six years.
Barbara enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, traveling, crafts, playing cards and jig saw puzzles.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two children, Beth and Troy Geyer, of Turbotville and Ande Fraley, of Muncy; sister-in-law, Nancy Keister, of White Hall; five grandchildren, Levi Geyer, Anna Geyer, Emily Fraley, Eric Fraley and Eli Fraley; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Guy Brayden and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the caregivers at River Woods for their exceptional care and friendship over the past four years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Edward Keister and two sisters, Patricia Metzger and Sylvia Yost.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Dearing and Pastor Chris A. Fraley (nephew), officiating.
Burial will follow in Moreland Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Barbara’s name be made to the National Reye’s Syndrome Foundation, NORD, Inc. – Donations, Dept 5930, P. O. Box 4110, Woburn, MA 01888.
