Bertha "Mae" Rifenburgh

March 11, 1936 — October 5, 2015

Bertha “Mae” Rifenburgh, 79, of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

She was born March 11, 1936 in Fairview, MD, a daughter of the late James and Sarah (Smith) Shumac.  On July 12, 1994, she married Donald “Don” Rifenburgh, who survives. Together they celebrated 21 years of marriage.

Mae spent most of her early years raising her family.  She later retired as an RSA from the Selinsgrove Center.

She was of the Christian faith.

Mae loved to crochet and was an excellent trout fisherman earlier in life.  She also enjoyed watching football, golf and baseball, especially the New York Mets.

Surviving in addition to her husband are six children, Paul C. Miller, of Addison, Kandi Renn and her husband, Harry, of Mifflinburg, Thomas Miller and his wife, Mary, of Sunbury, Barbara Snook and her husband, Steve, of Milton, Terry Rifenburgh and his wife, Mary-Lynne, of Forest Hills, NY, and Steven Rifenburgh and his wife, Mildred, of Leominster, MA; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, James Miller and Donald B. Rifenburgh; two daughters, Karen Miller and Nancy Rifenburgh; one granddaughter, Natasha Renn; two brothers, James and Robert Shumac; and two sisters, Grace Delaney and Buelah Gharet.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Buffalo Valley Commons, Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, with Pastor Marian K. Anderson, chaplain at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, officiating

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.

The family suggests contributions in Mae’s memory be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
