Bessie H. Palmatier

April 7, 1927 — January 20, 2015

Bessie H. Palmatier, 87, of Montoursville, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Loyalsock Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born April 7, 1927 in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Hattie (Fennell) Chamberlain. On January 3, 1947 she married Leo Palmatier, who preceded her in death in 1975.

She was employed at Sylvania and CA Reed. Bessie retired from the Williamsport Hospital where she was the supervisor in the laundry department.

She was a member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church.

Bessie enjoyed bingo and loved playing cards, especially penny poker.

Surviving are one son and two daughters-in-law, Steve and Brenda Palmatier, of Muncy and Linda Palmatier, of Pennsdale; one sister and brother-in-law, Sadie and Walter Sones, of Muncy; four grandchildren, Jenna, Alex, Corey, and his wife, Dawn and Tracy and four great-grandchildren, Kilee, Katie, Nathan and Nicholas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Edward Palmatier; two brothers, Frank and Harry Chamberlain and one sister, Hattie “Babe” Long.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

As a long time resident of the former Sycamore Manor, Bessie’s family is thankful for the loving care and support from the staff and a special thanks to the staff in Maple Court and Grampian.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Loyalsock Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 1445 Sycamore Road, Montoursville, PA 17754.
