Betty Jane Hain

Betty Jane Hain, 97, of Middleburg, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Born September 11, 1926 in Cogan Station, she was the daughter of the late Charles Merlin and Viola (Jacobs) Edler. On August 17, 1945 she married Wilbur A. “Bud” Hain, Jr., who survives. Together they celebrated 78 years of marriage.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Williamsport High School. She worked hard to raise her family and enjoyed spending time at the family pond. Betty was adventurous and enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, and most of all big bonfires known to the family as a “Betty fire”.

In addition to her loving husband, she will be greatly missed by her  daughter, Sherry (Hain) Gantt, of Middleburg;  two sons, Wilbur “Bill” Hain and wife, Deb, of Richfield and Dennis Hain and wife, Jennifer, of Middleburg; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and two nieces, Debbie (Edler) Taylor and husband, Gary, of Allenwood and Jill (Edler) Coonrod and husband, James, of Nazareth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles L. Edler, of Okeechobee, Florida.

A graveside service for family and close friends will be held at the family’s convenience.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting wildflowers be planted in her memory this Spring.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
