Betty E. Sones

Betty E. Sones, 87, of Muncy, died Friday, June 3, 2016 at her home.
Born February 7, 1929 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Pearl (Savidge) Ellis. Her husband of 16 years, Ralph “Deet” Sones, died July 16, 2007.
Betty worked as a seamstress at various sewing factories and later retired from the former Montgomery Mills.
She previously attended Moreland Baptist Church, Muncy.
Betty was a member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and Roland Ritter American Legion Post 268 Ladies Auxilary, both of Muncy. She enjoyed painting, word puzzles, reading and spending time with her family. Betty also loved fishing and working outdoors around her home mowing grass, gardening and growing her beautiful flowers.
Surviving are one son, Terry Lewis and his wife, Sherri, of Crescent City, CA; one daughter, Patricia Carey, of Muncy; one son, Jack Carey and wife, Mary, of Danville; one sister, Rosemary Plotts, of Augusta, GA; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Jack E. Carey; three brothers, Oscar ”Bud”, John and James Ellis; and two sisters, Anna Skiver and Wanda Baker.
Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
