Betty Truckenmiller Bower

Betty Truckenmiller Bower, 94, of Watsontown, died on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation.

She was born June 8, 1926 in Watsontown on her family’s farm, a daughter of the late Ward Welsh and Thelma (Brown) Truckenmiller.  In 1979 she married Harry Bower and together they celebrated 40 years of marriage before his death on May 26, 2019.

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Watsontown High School and later attended a Western Union course earning her a certificate as a telegraph operator. She worked as a switchboard operator/receptionist at several local businesses.

Betty was a member of the Elimsport United Methodist Church, Allenwood, where she was very active.

She also held memberships at the Watsontown Order of the Eastern Star (OES), Red Hats Society, the McEwensville Garden Club and the Watsontown Lioness Club.

Surviving are four children, Jeff Singer and his wife Dorothy, of New Columbia, Raymond Singer, of New Mexico, Sandra Terry, of Austin, Texas and Pamela Brown, of New Mexico; four siblings, Gladys Klapp, of Milton, formerly of Watsontown, Earl Truckenmiller, of Harrisburg, Myra Cunningham, of North Carolina, and Natalie Teuful and her husband John, of Allentown; eight grandchildren, Dayna, Darren, Andy, Clay, Jacquelyn, Jennifer, Sadie and Matt and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Donald, Robert and Fred Truckenmiller.

Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown.
