Beulah M. Burns, 91, of Milton, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
She was born October 25, 1925, in Greenville, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Willie Johnson and Lela Belle (Moore) Tyer. She married Donald D. Burns on November 29, 1945 and together they celebrated 42 years of marriage until his passing on June 30, 1988.
Beulah graduated high school in North Carolina. She spent most of her life as a housewife taking care of her family.
She formerly attended St. John's United Church of Christ while in Milton.
Beulah grew up playing basketball in high school which led to a lifelong passion for the sport. She became an avid Duke fan for all sports, but especially basketball.
She also enjoyed her small sewing club with friends while living in Milton.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Dennis Hassenplug, of Dewart, and Lisa and David Reichard, of Mechanicsburg; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara Jean and James Heath, Carolyn and James Woolard, Phyllis and Paul Garrett, and Linda and Lyman Hardee, all of North Carolina; one granddaughter, Dena Lenker; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Zoey and Olivia; and two great-grandchildren, Declan and Keegan.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by five siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 3 in Harmony Cemetery, 257 Willow St., Milton, with Chaplain Bob Barner of Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice, officiating
