Billie R. Bransteitter

Billie R. Bransteitter,80,of Muncy, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at UPMC, Williamsport.

He was born September 2, 1943 in Yakima, WA,a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Smith) Bransteitter.  On May 27, 1977 he married the former Marilyn Sones, who survives.  Together they celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Billie graduated from Bethel High School in Spanaway, WA.  He served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.  After 21 years in the Navy, he served 20 years as a correction officer at SCI, Camp Hill, before retiring.

In earlier years, Billie enjoyed bowling and golfing.  He more recently is remembered for being a door greeter at Sam’s Club in Muncy.  Billie was an avid Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan. Billie was lovingly called Grumpy by his grandchildren and by many others in his family. He was also a member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Brian (Tiffany) Bransteitter, of Camp Hill, and Angela (Steven) Davis, of Harrisburg; one brother, Roger (Pat) Bransteitter, and one sister, Illene Willyerd, all of Tacoma, WA; and two grandchildren, Ava and Samuel Bransteitter.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Allan Bransteitter; three sisters, Barbara (David) Cook, Diana (Albert) Johnson, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Carmignani; and, one brother-in-law, Richard Willyerd.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
