Bruce C. Sones

Bruce C. Sones, 90, a lifelong resident of Muncy, died Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his home.

Born  November 6, 1928 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Charles and Grace (Smith) Sones.  He and his wife, the former Gloria L. Stahlnecker, celebrated 60 years of marriage before her death May 8, 2008.

Bruce was a 1947 graduate of Muncy High School.  He worked as a weigh master at the former Lycoming Silica Sand, retiring after 47 years.

Bruce was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Clarkstown.

He was an avid outdoorsmen, enjoying pheasant hunting and fishing.  Bruce was a charter member at both the North Montour Sportsmen’s Association and the Whitetail Raiders hunting club.  He was loving of his dogs, always having English Setter’s for hunting.

Most importantly, he was devoted to spending time with family.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lane Sones, of Muncy; one sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Arnold Smith, of Anderson, SC; two grandchildren, Camaron (Melissa) Sones, and Tyler (Becky Sparks) Sones; and one great-grandchild, Owen Sones.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one son, Jerry Sones; one brother, Walter Sones; and one grandson, Wade Sones.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Beverly D. Cotner, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
