C. Kenneth Rood

C. Kenneth Rood, 93, of 501 Industrial Park Rd., Muncy, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.

Born March 20, 1921 in Dorrenstown, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ella (Randall) Rood. His first wife of 53 years, the former Irene C. Fassett, died October 22, 1999.

Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and was very active in the civil air patrol for many years. He was employed for more than 20 years at Avco-Lycoming, now Textron. Kenneth previously owned and operated a tractor trailer.

He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time in Florida.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary H., Sr. and Marsha Rood, of Hughesville and Kenneth G. and Debra Rood, of Muncy; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ruth A. and Sam Newman, of Muncy, Sharon I. Sones, of Turbotville and Faith M. and Sid Holmes, of Muncy; a brother, Donnie Rood, of New Albany; 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by his second wife, Joyce (Perritt) Rood; a son, Dale A. Rood, Sr.; a son-in-law, Ronald Sones; two brothers, A. Richard and Harry “Dewey” Rood; and three sisters, Grace VanDyke, Corinne Howell and Corola Heskell.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jane O’Borski, pastor of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers, and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Memorial Dialysis Fund of Central PA, 1660 Sycamore Rd., Montoursville, PA 17754 or to the American Diabetes Association, Central PA, 3544 North Progress Ave., Suite 103, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
