Carl C. “Pete” Smith, 83, of Hughesville, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home.
Born February 24, 1935 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Roy Levine Smith and Martha Viola (Bird) Smith, of Muncy. On June 21, 1953 he married the former Beverly Miller, who survives.
Pete attended Hughesville schools and served his country in the United States Army.
He worked for the former Schnadig International Furniture, Montoursville, the former Pullman Power, Williamsport, and later retired from Lending Textiles, Montgomery.
Pete attended Evangelical Free Fellowship, Muncy.
He was a member of the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy, the Muncy Valley Moose 866 and the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 520, Harrisburg. Pete enjoyed being outdoors including fishing with his sons in his younger years. He also enjoyed painting and most of all, spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are four sons, Rodney Smith, of Hughesville, Richard Smith and his wife, Patricia, of Bellefonte, Jack Smith and his wife, Deborah, of Muncy, and Timothy Smith and his wife, Laurie, of Bar Harbor, ME; one daughter, Sharon Poust and her husband, Franklin Jr, of Lewisburg; three brothers, Larry Smith and his wife, Jean, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Gary Smith and his wife, Sandra, of Lodi, NY, and Donald Smith and his wife, Marcia, of Muncy; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Family and Friends will be received from Noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Pete’s name be made to UPMC Susquehanna Homecare and Hospice. Please make checks payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation and mail to 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
