Cassandra Ann “Sandy” Schalcosky, 65, of 32 Hart Ave., Blairsville, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born December 7, 1948 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Henry M. “Slugger” and Rita (Ripp) Murray. On June 10, 1975 she married Paul L. Schalcosky, who survives. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.

A 1966 graduate of Muncy High School, Sandy received her bachelor’s and masters degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She worked as the Western Regional program manager at the office of Developmental Programs for the Department of Welfare, retiring in January 2013.

Sandy was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.

She was an avid reader. Most of all Sandy loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her dogs, Maggie and Zoe.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian A. Schalcosky, of San Diego, CA and David C. and Bridget Schalcosky, of North Wales, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie A. and Joseph Kellar, of Indiana, PA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Dale Bonney, of Mechanicsburg, Deborah and Joe Brown, of Williamsport and Donna and Robert Ferrell, of Muncy; and four grandchildren, Caitlin and Emily Schalcosky and Chloe and Noah Kellar.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., with her pastor, the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Resurrection building fund, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756.
