Catherine Ann "Gabby" Styer

February 5, 1952 — March 26, 2025

Muncy

Catherine Ann “Gabby” Styer, 73, of Muncy, died peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in her home.

Born February 5, 1952 in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Walter S. Bugala and Mary Catherine (Shawley) Caldwell. On April 27, 1974, she married Ralph “Sam” Styer, Jr., who survives. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Gabby was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Business Career Institute, Greensburg. Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Soon after marriage, Sam and Gabby owned and operated the Ralph Styer Farm in Milton while raising their daughters. Gabby’s professional life changed once again after moving to Montgomery where she became a rural postal carrier and retired after 20 years of service.

Her retirement years did not slow down as she happily worked side by side with her family at The Green Barn Berry Farm in Muncy. Gabby cherished her time spent behind the counter helping the many customers and mentoring her “honorary” grandkids that also worked on the farm.

Gabby was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Latrobe for 73 years. She served as a 4-H Leader and council member, as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and as a PTO leader.

Gabby was also an avid reader and helped others as an adult literacy tutor.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Michael Goley, of St. Charles, MO, and Robyn and Jarod Schreiber, of Muncy; one brother, Walter Bugala, of Latrobe; three brothers-in-law, Carl, Lee and Thomas Styer; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Eck and Emily Alleman; and five grandchildren, Matthew and Kate Goley and Mason, Mitchell and Margot Schreiber.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a step father, Glenn Caldwell.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Rd., Montgomery, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with Jim Girven and Father Sean Carpenter, officiating.

Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions in Catherine’s name be made to either the Montgomery FFA, c/o Chris Ulrich, 120 Penn St., Montgomery, PA 17752 or the Montgomery Area Public Library, 1 South Main St. Montgomery, PA 17752.
