Charles “Bob” Robert George, 89, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born April 1, 1935, in Bloomsburg, son of the late Kimber Charles and Eva (Artley) George. On January 26, 1963, he married the former Sandra Rader, who survives. Together, they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Bob graduated from Catawissa High School in 1952 and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bloomsburg State College, followed by a master’s degree in school administration from Bucknell University. He joined the United States Army, training in Fort Knox, Kentucky; later serving in the Army Reserves. Bob taught mathematics for 10 years for Northumberland School District, and 29 years for Lewisburg School District, where he retired in 1995. During a portion of this time, he taught college mathematics to prisoners at the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary. He was also an athletic game manager for 17 of those years. Following retirement, Bob enjoyed working at the Bucknell Field House until 2020.

He was also a lifelong member of the Norry Ones firehall in Northumberland County and member of the PA State Education Association.

Bob was beloved by family and friends. Respected for his work ethic and character. He was passionate about watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Bob was an avid reader and intrigued by history. He was a humble contributor to the town of Lewisburg and his impact will be fondly remembered.  He was passionate about going on cruises, two of his favorites were the Panama Canal Locks and an Alaskan Cruise.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sheri Leary and her husband, Timothy, of Hershey, and Bobbi Sue Dustin and her husband, Kevin, of Kentucky; one sister, Nancy Kratzer and her husband, Dale, of Reading; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan and Karli Bollinger, and Jordan, Adam and Riley Dustin; along with two great-grandchildren, Noelle and Matthew Bollinger.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to Noon on Friday, May 3 at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, 42 S. 3rd St. Lewisburg, where a Memorial Service will be held at Noon with Rev. Sue Jamison, officiating.

The family suggests contributions in the memory of Bob be made to Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
