Charles R. "Charlie" Tyson, 71, of Danville, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home.

He was born June 5, 1945 in Greenville, NC, a son of the late Robert Lee and Gladys (Wainwright) Tyson.

Charlie grew up farming in the south. He became a self taught business man, mechanic and auto body specialist. Charlie was the owner and operator of Tyson's Body Shop in Parkerford, PA for decades. He was known in the industry as one of the best, which led others to seek out his expertise.

Charlie was a member of NA and AA for over 34 years, where he made numerous friends and helped make a difference in the lives of many people.

He enjoyed farming, fishing and restoring custom antique cars. Charlie loved being around animals and looked forward to visits from his friends pets.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Julie Tyson, of Muncy; a brother, Harvey Lee Tyson, of Henderson, NC; three grandchildren, Aharon and Kala Tyson, of Tapahannock, VA, Shawna Tyson, of Muncy and Alexander Tyson, of Eaglesville, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Aurelie Tyson.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Charles Michael Tyson, a brother, Lester Earl Tyson and a sister, Irene Padgett.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 4, at the White Deer Valley Baptist Church, 572 White Deer Baptist Church Rd., White Deer, with the Rev. Michael Deal, officiating.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
