Charlotte Foust Peeling, 97, of Muncy, passed away Saturday, January 30 at Rose View Center, Williamsport.
She was born August 2, 1918 in Clarkstown, daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Turner Foust.
Her husband George Carlton Peeling predeceased her in 1990 after 51 years of marriage. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister Margery Houseknecht.
Surviving are her two sons, Clyde (Dianne) of Montgomery and Donald (MaryLou) of Muncy; three grandchildren, Chad (Chris) of Allenwood, Elliot (Karla) of Turbotville, and Whitney of Philadelphia; and three great grandsons, Pierce, Evan and Calvin Peeling.
Charlotte grew up on a farm outside Clarkstown and attended elementary school in a small one-room school house on the bank of Little Muncy Creek. She later graduated from Muncy High School and the Williamsport Business School.
Charlotte was a member of the Muncy Presbyterian Church. An active member of the Muncy Garden Club, she had a green thumb with a variety of flowers, vegetables and fruits. She was, like many of her generation, a product of the Great Depression—frugal to a fault. Most of her life she worked hard raising her children, canning, baking, cooking, and helping neighbors.
