Christine Elizabeth Joyce

Christine Elizabeth (Nemeth) Joyce, 60 of Lewisburg, PA, Albuquerque, NM and South Amboy, NJ lost her long battle with breast cancer on Monday, Dec. 14th at Buffalo Valley Nursing Home in Lewisburg.

Chris graduated in 1973 from St. Mary’s H.S. in So. Amboy, NJ, and went to work for AT&T. She traveled extensively as a young woman throughout the southern and western states to California, the northeast coast to Maine, and to Hawaii. In 1988 she married and moved to New Mexico; after two years she was single again and enjoying life in the desert. Chris was employed for 15 years at Lovelace ParkCenter as Clerical Supervisor in the Behavioral Center. Leaving many good friends, she moved back to NJ in 2006 to assist her brother in the care of their mother, afflicted with Alzheimer’s. Those years were long & devastating, losing both her mom and her brother in 2010.

After a bout with breast cancer in 2011, having lost just about everything, and being unemployed, she moved to PA, in with her friend of 44 years, Laura “Stretch” Wolke. Finally finding a job she loved as a Tech at White Deer Run Rehabilitation Facility, getting her feet back under her, Chris was happy and content again. Then the cancer returned; invading her bones, liver and lungs. Her last two years were a struggle, but were filled with the things she loved: food, movies, Hollywood magazines, television horror and cop shows, fantasy and mystery books, yard sales, and music.

Chris is predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Eleanor (Fisler) Nemeth, older sister Patty Jacobelli, and younger brother Scott. She is survived by an older brother, William and family in Mexico,  a younger sister, Tammy Munck, one niece, Catie, two nephews, Ryan and Michael (with fiancée Amanda),  and one great-nephew, Abel Scott, all of Hatfield, PA,  a few aunts, uncles & cousins in NJ & FL, and many friends spread out.  Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
