Clarence J. “Mike” Imgrund, 82, of Lewisburg and part time resident of Okeechobee, FL, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, with his daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Michael Apfelbaum due to injuries sustained in an airplane accident in North Carolina.
Born September 8, 1932 in Schellsburg, he was a son of the late Michael Leonard and Catherine (Smith) Imgrund. On April 16, 1955 he married Charlotte Fleegle, who preceded him in death on September 4, 2011. Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Mike worked as a truck driver at Interstate Trucking for 26 years. He then was employed at ABF Trucking Company before moving to Florida and driving for Walpole Inc., Okeechobee.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg , and attended Sacred Heart Church, Okeechobee.
Mike loved playing cards and spending time with his family. Enjoying the outdoors, he was fond of gardening, camping and hunting.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Rebecca Imgrund, of Penns Creek; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Dan Suders, of Lewisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Dorothy Imgrund, of Manns Choice; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Francis and Wayne Tedley, Dorothy and Gary Wolfhope and Mary Grace Imgrund, all of Schellsburg, and Collette Holsepple, of Deleware; one brother-in-law, Robert Diehl, of Bedford; nine grandchildren, Heather Shay, Michelle Schmitt, Jesse Suders, Brianna Kula, Leah Apfelbaum, Jon Sidney Apfelbaum, Donovan Imgrund, Carole Anne Imgrund and Abigail Imgrund; six great-grandchildren Sarah Shay, Parker Schmitt, Emily Shay, Piper Shay, Lydia Schmitt and Catherine Schmitt.
In addition to his wife, Mike was predeceased by one son, Michael Imgrund; one sister, Mildred Diehl; and his step mother, Mary Imgrund.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 26 at Sacred Heart Church 41 S. Eighth St., Lewisburg.
In honor of his volunteer work the family suggests contributions be made to a local food bank of one’s choosing.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
