Collins E. Maurer, 72 passed away on October 26, 2024 at his home in Canton.
Born and raised in Muncy, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Kiper) Maurer. He was married to the late Marian Maurer and together they celebrated 34 loving years of marriage.
He graduated from Muncy Senior High School in 1970 and worked over 40 years in the building maintenance field, retiring from the Park Place apartment facility in 2015.
Collins was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and collected many trophies throughout his years that displayed his skill and pride for what he enjoyed. Collins had a green thumb and it’s is said he could grow anything even in unsatisfactory conditions. Collins was a lifelong fan of Penn state football, Go Lions!
Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, where he took every opportunity to buy snacks and treats for them to devour during their visits and steal a sip of “Poppy’s Pepsi”. Collins was a fold up money in a secret handshake type of poppy and although his tremor held him back from certain things it never held him back from giving the best high fives to his best buddy, Jack.
Collins is survived by his son Jared (Deborah) Maurer, of Canton and Jason Maurer of Hughesville, his seven grandchildren Alexis, Tori, Kylie, Joseph, Sloane, Jackson, and Quinn. Also his loving sisters Linda Miller, Carol Stryker, Debra (Roger) Meyers, and Ethel (Laverne) Eiswerth.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter in infancy, Kristi; two brother-in-laws, Carl Miller and Robert Stryker; and his hell hound of a dog, Baboots.
Services and internment will be private.
The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
