Debbie Sue Thompson (Lyman), 62 of White Deer, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024 surrounded by her daughter and husband.
Debbie was born on September 21, 1962 in Lewisburg. She was a daughter of Rinda Jane Lyman (Fisher) and the late Robert Owen Lyman.
Debbie was raised in Williamsport. She graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1980 where she played clarinet and was an active member of their music program participating in both marching band and orchestra. During her time at WAHS, she participated in All-City, District, and State band competitions. Debbie earned her degree in accounting from Williamsport Area Community College in 1981. She was employed by Tetley Tea in Williamsport for fifteen years, Great Dane Trailers in Washingtonville, PA for six years, and Conagra Foods in Milton, PA for nineteen years. Debbie made several long-lasting friendships throughout her career.
Debbie was married to Jeffrey Allen Thompson and had two wonderful children, Tyanne L. Miller (Brock), of Cogan Station and Benjamin P. Thompson (Candace), of Danville. Debbie and Jeff celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on February 1, 2024. Debbie had a big heart and loved deeply. She loved nothing more than being a mother and a MiMi. She was a devoted and loving mother. Debbie also had four beautiful grandchildren, Ava, Benjamin Jr., Jace, and Willa. Her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. In her younger years, Debbie was an active member of a local sorority chapter, Beta Sigma Phi. Here, she participated in many activities and charities throughout Lycoming County. She was also a huge country music fan and avid concert-goer. She enjoyed country line dancing and two-step dancing. During her time taking two-step lessons, she met Jeff. Debbie truly enjoyed this part of her life and the people she shared it with. Most recently, Debbie loved to spend her time attending craft classes and card making. She had a core group of women that she shared this love of “crafty time” with. She cherished their friendship and time spent together. She was so proud of the life she and Jeff created. She loved spending time with Jeff on their small homestead in White Deer making wine and enjoying their chickens. She loved all animals and welcomed any (big or small) with open arms. Debbie leaves behind a very loving family – her husband, children, grandchildren, her mother, her brother, Richard G. Lyman (Tai), a nephew, Zachary R. Lyman (Alli), and her in-laws, Maddy and Fred Thompson (Lewistown, PA), who she loved very much.
At the request of Debbie, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Haven to Home Canine Rescue at 625 Hillside Drive Berwick, PA 18603 with ‘In Memory of Debbie Thompson’ included in the memo. This organization was very special to Debbie.
