Donald L. Gottschall, 83, of Watsontown, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Born August 11, 1940, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Willard and Pearl (Andrews) Gottschall. On June 2, 1962, he married the former Connie Nevel, who survives. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Donald was a 1958 graduate of Muncy High School and served honorably in the United States Navy. Donald later retired after 39 years at the former Sprout-Bauer, now Andritz, Muncy.
Donald was an avid wood worker and enjoyed gardening, bowling, eating ice cream, and going to casinos. He also loved to complete and frame jigsaw puzzles, and travel with his wife.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Donald (Kyong) Gottschall Jr., of Lacey, WA, Mary (Chris) O’Dell, of Yakima, WA, and Brenda (Joe) Reigle, of Watsontown; six grandchildren, James (Reichael) Gottschall, Heidi (Adam) Gottschall, Nathaniel (Elizabeth) Cooper, Alexandra (Derrick) Rank, Cassandra (Jarred Lefevre) Eccleston, and Skye Reigle; three step grandchildren, Kelly O’Dell, Scott O’Dell, and Nick (Amanda) O’Dell; four great-grandchildren, Mason O’Dell, Teddy Cooper, Emma Rank, and Hana Gottschall; and his nephews and niece, Richard Jr. and Rodney Gottschall, and Debbie Gottschall.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Sr. and James Gottschall.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 am on Thursday, July 11 at Grenoble Funeral Home & Crematory, 308 Main St. Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Chaplain Mike Miller, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
