Donald L. Murray

Donald L. Murray, 93, of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Buffalo Valley Personal Care, Lewisburg.
He was born October 4, 1923 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ralph A. and Miriam E. (Wagner) Murray. On October 8, 1945, he married the former Mary Lee Ervine and they celebrated 68 years of marriage before her death on March 11, 2014.
Donald was a 1941 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
He served honorably in the United States Army Air Force as a bombardier during WWII. During his service, Donald was a P.O.W. for 14 months in Germany.
Donald retired after 41 years from Citizens Electric Co., where he worked as a metering technician and a lineman.
He was a life member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.
Donald was a member of the National Rifle Association, Buffalo Valley Sportsman Association and the Union County Sportsman Association.
He was also a member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182, Lewisburg, the Lewisburg Memorial Post 7715 V.F.W. and the Susquehanna Chapter-American Ex-prisoners of War.
An avid outdoorsman and traveler, Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and visiting numerous countries all over the world.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Christina Murray, of Lewisburg, two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Ron Schulz, of Sellersville, and Diane and Michael Erdley, of Danville; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one son, Michael Murray; one brother, Charles Murray; and one sister, Mary Ellen Shipton.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 with the Rev. Dr. Gary Hackenberg, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be to the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182, 125 Buffalo Rd., Lewisburg, PA 17837, or a charity of one’s choice.
