Donald P. Whispell, 76, of Milton, died on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born on April 24, 1940 in Danville, a son of the late William E. and Catherine M. (Kessler) Whispell.
Donald was a 1958 graduate of Danville High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy. Following his service duties, Donald worked for many years as a painter at the former Kennedy Van Saun, Danville, and retired from the former Petro Truck Stop, now Penn80, Milton.
He was a former member of local American Legion's and VFW's. Donald was also an avid hunter, accomplished archery shooter and archery instructor. His hunting expertise allowed him to form close relationships with many local farmers as he hunted groundhogs on their farms. Donald also enjoyed spending time with his close friends, Robert Wagner, of Milton and James Trump, of Danville either hunting or riding motorcycles.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Steve Bernas, of Winfield and Candy and Andy Bloom, of Watsontown; a son-in-law, Brian Rute, of Lewisburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two daughters, Donna Jean Whispell and Holly A. Rute; and two sons-in-law, Todd M. Mark and Gary J. Watts.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
