Donne L. King

Donne L. King, 95, formerly of Sullivan County and most recently of Montoursville, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Williamsport North.

Born March 17, 1928 in Sonestown, he was a son of the late Ralph W. and Mae B. (Warburton) King.On June 29, 1946 he married the former Marian L. Stiger, who predeceased him on August 9, 2023. Together they celebrated 77 years of marriage.

Donne attended Sonestown High School.  In his early years he was a self employed mechanic opening his own garage and later established and operated K&W Transmissions.

Donne loved woodworking, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting and playing cards.  At one point, he piloted small aircraft and enjoyed flying.  He was happy to take others along to share the experience, including his 80 year old mother at her request.

Donne and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home seeing most of the USA, Canada and Mexico. They were charter members of a local Susquehanna Winnebago Club and members of the Pennsylvania State Club where they held offices and organized many events through the years.  Donne was also the “go to” mechanic and was happy to help anyone in need, including offering his expertise on Winnebago organized trips.

Surviving are one daughter, Vicki Waldman, of Montoursville; three grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son, David King; one daughter, Suzanne Lucas; five sisters, Leona, Clara, Caroline, Jessie and Alma; and two brothers, John and Walter.

A private interment by the family will be held in Cherry Grove Cemetery, Nordmont.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests doing a kind deed for a friend or stranger in Donne’s memory, if so desired.
