Dorothy D. Bennage, 99, formerly of Lamplight Lane, Lewisburg, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
She was born January 25, 1917 in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Blett) Strouse. On October 2, 1935 she married Karl R. Bennage and they celebrated 68 years of marriage before his death on May 25, 2004.
Dorothy worked as a secretary at Campbell’s Mill.
She was of Lutheran faith.
Dorothy was an accomplished painter and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She was an avid gardener, loving all flowers. Most importantly Dorothy loved spending time with her family and spending more than 30 winters in Ladylake, FL with her husband.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Stacy Bennage; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara Bennage, Nancy and Harvey Richardson and Donna and Charles Schenck; two sisters, Charlotte Roth and Janet Sheesley; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Fred, Robert, Dale and Harold Strouse; three sisters, Myra Walter, Ruth Strine and Ethel Lytle; and one daughter, Carolyn Kay Bennage.
A graveside service will be held noon Sunday at Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
The family welcomes flowers and encourages everyone to plant flowers in Dorothy’s memory.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
