Dorothy Louise Voneida

July 2, 1921 — May 4, 2014

Dorothy Louise Voneida, 92, formerly of 723 Petersburg  Rd., Allenwood, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

She was born July 2, 1921 in Washington Twp., the daughter of the late John I. Sr and Bertha A. (White) Bower. On April 10, 1943 she married Donald F. Voneida, who preceded her in death October 1, 1995. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Louise was a graduate of Montgomery high school.  She worked for a short time at the former Sylvania, Williamsport.  Louise spent most of her life as a housewife raising her family and helping her husband on their family farm.

She was a member of the Elimsport United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed flowers and spending time at home on the farm.  Louise was very devoted to reading the newspaper and kept many local clippings through the years.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Carol Voneida, of Allenwood, one brother and sister-in-law, John I. Jr. and Judith Bower, of Watsontown; one sister-in-law, Peggy Bower, of Allenwood; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Dan and Karen Voneida, of Allenwood; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Nolan Voneida, both of Allenwood.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Donovan L. Bower.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to Noon Thursday, at the Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 State Rt. 44, Allenwood, where a Funeral Service will be held at Noon with her minister, pastor Michael Hill, officiating.

Burial will follow in Elimsport Cemetery.

The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 State Rt. 44, Allenwood, PA 17810.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
