E. Genevieve Voeste

E. Genevieve Voeste, 100, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, November 24, 2016, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

She was born August 12, 1916 in Jericho, a daughter of the late William John and Nellie Mae (Phillips) Fitz.  On September 27, 1941, she married Robert G. Voeste and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage before his death on November 11, 2004.

Genevieve graduated from Sterling High School.  She worked in the Lewisburg Area School District cafeteria for 15 years.

She was a member of Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.

Genevieve was a member of the Rebekah's, where she served as a past Noble Grand.  She was a Girl Scout leader and volunteered her time with the American Red Cross.  Genevieve enjoyed sewing and gardening.  Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Metzger, of Lititz; six grandchildren, Cheryl Voeste, Christine (Tim) Russell, Susan (Joe) Stauder, Kyle Metzger, Kelli (Travis) Knerr and Ashley (Justin) Meinert; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Robert Voeste; one brother, George Fitz; and two sisters, Thelma Peet and Ellen McLain.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marlow Hall, Riverwoods, 3201 River Rd., Lewisburg, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Peter Geschwindner, Riverwoods chaplain, officiating.

Burial will be held privately in Hopedale Moravian Cemetery, Newfoundland.

The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839 (online at www.redcross.org/donate) or the Alzheimer's Association online at www.alz.org.

A special thanks to the nurses and staff on Birchlane for their loving care and support.
