Edna Mary Hanrahan

August 12, 1919 — April 23, 2018

Edna Mary Hanrahan, 98, formerly of Hanover and most recently of Montoursville, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at her home.

Born August 12, 1919, in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte (Stapf) Dyer.  On April 21, 1939, she married Samuel George Hanrahan, and together they celebrated 43 years of marriage before his deathon January 28, 1983.

Edna was a 1937 graduate of West Lampeter high school, Lancaster.  She worked in retail many years at various stores throughout Hanover, including the former Cannon Shoe, J.S. Raub, M.C. Nace, Wengerts and Wolfe Shoe store where she retired in 1982.  She enjoyed doing window displays, fitting shoes and working with her husband, George.

She was a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, where she served on the Altar Guild and most recently a member of the Door Fellowship Church, Williamsport.

In her earlier years, Edna volunteered at Helping Hands, Hanover.  After moving to be closer to her daughter in 1995, Edna enjoyed faithfully visiting her son-in-law’s mother at Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing.

Surviving are one daughter, Betty Hanrahan Funk and her husband, Coleman, of Montoursville; one son, George Edward Hanrahan and his wife, Sue, of Indianapolis, IN; four grandchildren, Joslyn (Steve) Serfass, Jacqueline (James) Ahlborn, Kyle (Sherie) Hanrahan and Stacey (Jay) Wilson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
