Edwin D. “Ed” Ney, 95, of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born on September 25, 1929 in Clark Summit, he was the son of the late Oscar and Cora (Roeder) Ney. On March 24, 1951 he married the former Shirley Ann Heim, who preceded him in death February 18, 2011. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. On May 6, 2017 he married Mary Ellen Hoffman, who survives and celebrated 7 years of marriage together.
Ed was a 1947 graduate of Auburn High school. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Ed worked as a salesman for Nabisco for over 30 years before retiring. During retirement he worked part time at the former Cronrath Funeral Home for a number of years.
He was a member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg. Ed was also a member of Charity Lodge #144, Lewisburg and the Lewisburg Chapter #394 Order of the Eastern Star, where he was a past Patron.
Ed was a season ticket holder for Penn State Football. He was an avid gardener and loved cars.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, John Ney, of Texas; Mark Ney and his wife, Deb, of Delaware and Edwin Ney II, of Florida; four step daughters, Cathy Neuhauser and Brenda Hubbert, both of Mifflinburg, Sharyn Zimmerman, of New Berlin and Sheryl DeHart, of Muncy; four grandsons, Jonathan, Aaron, Samuel and Timothy Ney and two great-grandsons, Grant and Clark Ney.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, November 11 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where a Masonic and Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 11. A funeral service will follow with the Rev. John Yost of Dreisbach United Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 12 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. 3rd St. Lewisburg, PA 17837.
