Eileen Marie Benfer

Mrs. Eileen Marie (Kelly) Benfer, 70, of Turbotville, died on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born August 2, 1949 in Easton, a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Marion (Beers) Kelly. On June 24, 1972 she married Russell Benfer, who survives. Together they celebrated nearly 48 years of marriage.

Eileen was a 1971 graduate of Millersville University and obtained her teaching certificate from Penn State University. She taught Elementary school in the Easton school district.

She played guitar and sang in the folk group at the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy, for about 20 years.

Eileen was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg.

In addition to her husband, Eileen is survived by four daughters, Melissa Benfer, of Pittsburgh, Teresa Cariello and her husband, Angelo, of Smyrna, DE, Maureen Benfer, of Lewisburg and Karen Benfer, of Williamsport; one grandson, Andrew Layton, of Lewes, DE; one sister, Kathleen Kelly, of Queens, NY and one nephew, Thomas Kelly, of San Antonio, TX.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Michael Kelly.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be held in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.

The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
