Elaine was a graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School, Brooklyn, NY. She worked as an executive secretary for Chase Bank, Manhattan, NY during the WWII years and, in 1970s-80s, with Adrian T. Bogart Architectural Engineer, Locust Valley, NY.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg and the Lewisburg Arts Council.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Joseph Welteroth, of Lewisburg and Carol and John Wood, of Avon, CT; four grandchildren, David and Jessica Rich, Jennie Rich and Chris O’Neil, Kathryn and Ryan Gross, and Sarah and Mike Desjardins; and two great-grandchildren, Briella and Gavin Rich.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Peters in 1997 and her brother-in-law Donald Schrader and his wife, Helen in 2002 and 2004. Beloved sister-in-law of 72 years, June Peters, survives as well as nieces and nephews around the country.

Elaine was passionate about her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren at football games, gymnastic meets, horse shows, and band concerts. Elaine enjoyed reading, traveling, and gardening. She always talked about being a world traveler and the many countries and sights she had seen in her lifetime.

Burial will be held in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY at the convenience of the family. A celebration of her life will take place in Lewisburg when such gatherings are allowed.

The family suggest contributions in Elaine’s memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Buffalo Valley Benevolent Care (www.diakon.org/giving). A huge thank you is sent by the family to the staff at Buffalo Valley Assisted Living and Nursing Care for their love and support over these last years. At all times, Elaine said they took such good care of her.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
