Eleanor Grace Benjamin

Eleanor Grace Benjamin, age 20, of Lewisburg, passed away in her sleep early in the morning of January 21, 2024.

She was born on May 9, 2003 to Leslie Cullen and Rick Benjamin at the Geisinger Medical Center.

Despite complex medical conditions and disabilities Eleanor lived a rich life full of joy. She was deeply treasured by her family. All who knew her felt her beautiful spirit and intrepid nature.

She loved steam trains, rides in her family’s Model T, music, dancing, and animals. She was also a terrible flirt. Most of all she loved people and she brightened the lives of so many with her shining light.

Her family expresses deep gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Geisinger Medical Center and Evangelical Community Hospital for all of the magnificent care she received over the years. Gratitude is also given to teachers and staff at Work Foundations + and the Lewisburg Area School District for the support they provided in her education. Deepest gratitude of all is given to Desiree Diehl, who helped in Eleanor’s care for many years and without whom the family could not have managed.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Matthew Benjamin, of Fishkill, NY; great aunt and uncles, James and Dorothy Smith, of Wall Township, NJ and Wayne and Toni Smith, of Ringoes, NJ; aunts and uncles, Robert and Anne Sagebiel, of Centennial, CO, Jonathan and Barbara Benjamin, of Hamilton, NJ, John and Lisa Love, of Gettysburg and Andrew and Clarice Cullen, of Norman, OK and numerous cousins, including Megan Casper, who she was especially close with.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27 at First Baptist Church 51 S. Third St. Lewisburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. MacKenzie Scott, officiating.

Burial will follow in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
