Elizabeth "Ann" Waltman

October 31, 1937 — December 9, 2020

Elizabeth “Ann” Waltman, 83, loving sister, aunt and great aunt passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from COVID-19.

Ann was born on October 31, 1937 in Allenwood, a daughter of the late Donald and Kathryn (Schooley) Waltman. She grew up on her family farm in Elimsport and graduated from Montgomery High School. Ann received her bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg State Teachers College, now Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. She later earned her master’s degree in education from Bucknell University. Ann’s career spanned over thirty years as a teacher at the Ward L. Meyers elementary school in Muncy. Towards the end of her career it was not uncommon for Ann to have taught three generations of students from the same family.

She was an avid reader about history and English & British literature. This passion for reading inspired her to take many trips to Europe with friends and university colleagues. Ann was a walking encyclopedia when it came to British history and the British Royal family.

Another love of her life were the three miniature dachshunds she had over the years, Leisel, Tuner and Lizzy. They were never too far from her feet or lying next her on the couch or chair while Ann read her books.

Ann enjoyed attending productions at the Bloomsburg Theater Ensemble and countless Broadway shows in NYC. She volunteered and was a season ticket holder of the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra. Ann was a member of the Muncy Business and Professional Women’s Club, Muncy Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and multiple card clubs.

She is survived by her brother, Donald E. Waltman, Jr., of Elimsport; three nephews, Jeffrey S. and Katheryn Waltman, of Indianapolis, IN, Thomas E. Waltman, of Elysburg and  Christopher M. Waltman, of Stevensville, MT; and seven great nephews and nieces, Lilly and Jack Waltman, IN, Tyler and Kate Waltman, PA and Zaya & Yara Elion/Waltman and Theodore Waltman, MT.

Services will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Ann’s  memory be made to the Muncy Historical Society, through www.myremembrance.com, which will provide the family with a personalized keepsake that lists every donor’s name who so graciously donated in her memory.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
