Elva M. "Elly" Fritz

Elva M. “Elly” Fritz, 90, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born November 25, 1932, a daughter of the late Dr. Clark Benjamen and Maude Elva (Bensinger) Zimmerman. On June 9, 1954, she married Paul R. Wilson, who preceded her in death June 9, 1998. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage. On January 1, 2000, she married Harry Fritz, who preceded her in death August 5, 2019. Together they celebrated 19 years of marriage.

Elly received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Penn State University. She began her career as a teacher in a one room school house in Hughesville. Elly later retired from Mifflinburg School district, where she was a music teacher for 30 years.

She was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Chorale.

Elly enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and gardening. She loved music, whether it was listening to all different kinds or singing herself.

Surviving are her three children, Mark T. Wilson, of Hampton, NH, Matthew P. Wilson, of Collegeville and Molly G. Slakoper and her husband, Todd, of Philipsburg; one brother, Dr. C. Benjamin Zimmerman and his wife, Christine, of NE; two grandchildren, Declan P.S. Wilson, of Fort Worth, TX and Tobias R. Anderson, of Philipsburg and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Lorriane Grenoble and Daisy Reiter.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in Elly’s memory may be made to either the National Audubon Society or the Lewisburg Arts Council for music in the park.

Elly will be remembered for her positive outlook, easy smile, and unfailing kindness and caring.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
