Emma Jean Newcomer, 90, a longtime resident of Watsontown, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born November 8, 1927, in Delaware Twp., a daughter of the late Clarence Wilbur and Vera Winnifred (Hunter) Lose.  She married Ralph Newcomer Sr. on January 24, 1969 and together they celebrated 21 years of marriage until his passing on February 8, 1990.

Emma was a graduate of Watsontown High School.  She was very passionate about farming and spent 50 years doing so with her brother.

She was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Watsontown, where she enjoyed volunteering and helping her church community.

Emma loved baking, especially sugar cookies.  She lived a very simple, but good life and enjoyed all the time spent with her family, friends and neighbors that surrounded the family farm.

She is survived by one brother, W. Dale Lose, of Watsontown; two nieces, Becky Lose, of Dewart and Susan Lose, of Watsontown; two stepsons, Ralph “Sonny” Newcomer and Harold Newcomer, both of Watsontown; one stepdaughter, Peggy Gottschall, of Muncy; one great niece, Cindy Morgan; four great nephews, Aaron and Allen Smith, and Ryan and Nicholas Lose; two great-great nieces, Hannah and Joelle Smith; and two great-great nephews, Riley and Joseph Smith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Earl Lose; one nephew, Roger Lose; and one sister-in-law, JoAnn Lose.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Twin Hills Memorial Park, 3332 Lycoming Mall Drive, Muncy, with the Rev. Brian Cieslukowski, officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either Trinity United Church of Christ, 602 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777 or St. John's United Methodist Church, PO Box 105, Dewart, PA 17730.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
