Ernest "Ernie" H. Keister

Ernest (Ernie) H. Keister, Jr., 88, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

He was born January 6, 1935, the son of the late Ernest H., Sr. and Mildred (Catherman) Keister.

He was a long-time member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.

Ernie loved bowling and being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed getting coffee and hash browns from McDonald’s and spending his mornings by the river with his dog Smokey at his side.  He could often be found sitting at the family cabin along Penns Creek, smoking a cigar and enjoying nature.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime companion, Florence White; and one brother-in-law, Roger Beck.

Ernie is survived by his sister, Carol E. (Keister) Beck, of Pittsburgh; nieces, Barbara Michael and Beverly (Jeff) Weber; nephew, Barry Beck and numerous great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by the family of Florence White that include her four children; Charles L. White, of Middleburg, Sue (Jesse) Starr, of Lewisburg, Charlene (Richard) Goode, of Northumberland, and Lorelei White, of Mifflinburg; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 4 at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Justin Lingenfelter, officiating.

Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Charles and Tiffany White in caring for Ernie in his final days with the support of Hospice of Evangelical and Home Instead Senior Care.
