Eugene L. Witmer, Sr., 83, of 515 Ash St., Watsontown, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born January 3, 1931 in Picture Rocks, a son of the late Arthur L. Sr. and Florence (Wertz) Witmer.  On November 18, 1966 he married the former Madeline "Nance" Wertz, who survives. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage.

Eugene graduated from Montgomery High School. He worked as a supervisor at the former Jasper Wood Products, Watsontown and retired as a Weighmaster from the former Milton Manufacturing.

He was a member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown.  Eugene loved wood working and built many things while working in his garage.  He also enjoyed watching baseball and racing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Eugene L. Jr. and Rosalie Witmer, of NC, David Witmer, of IN, and Michael Witmer, of Watsontown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Robert Renock, of IN, and Teresa and Dennis Oakes and Lynn and Alan Wynn, all of Watsontown; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Witmer, of Watsontown; two sisters-in-law, Norma Witmer, of NY, and Shelva Jean Witmer, of Allenwood; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Terry Prinzenhoff; two brothers, Robert and Arthur L. Witmer, Jr.; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Mark Jamison, and one great-granddaughter, Kierstin Lind.

In keeping with Eugene's wishes, there will be no services.

If so desired, memorial contributions in Eugene's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
