Frank A. Brown Sr.

Col. Frank A. Scicchitano Brown, Sr. (Ret.), 69, of Muncy, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at his home.

Born September 22, 1947 in Manhattan, NY, he was a son of the late Louise (Scicchitano) Brown.  On November 6, 2004 he married the former Diana Mazzuca, who survives.  Together they celebrated 12 years of marriage.

Frank was a 1966 graduate of Shamokin High School.  He started Brown's Electric Service and Shamokin Insulation Company, which were later merged together to form NCD Wholesale, which is a national distributor for Lionel Corp.

Frank was drafted into the United States Army earning additional education as a graduate from Officer's Candidate School and Command and General Staff College.  While serving in the Army, he was heavily decorated earning many awards including the PA service ribbon for rendering aid to civil law enforcement agencies of the Commonwealth, the PA Silver Star for service during Tropical Storm Agnes, a second PA Silver Star for service during the Trucker's strike, the Humanitarian Service Medal for participation in the Cuban Refugee Operation, and finally retiring after 27 years of service with the full rank of Colonel.

He later graduated with a BS in Political Science from New York University in 1988.  Frank enjoyed Politics and even attended a rally for John F. Kennedy at the New York Coliseum when he was only 12 years old.

Frank was a member of the American Legion Post 945, the 28th Infantry Division Association, Northumberland County Farm Bureau, Sons of Italy and the Lionel Collectors Club of America.

One of Frank's greatest passions was hockey and he even helped establish and coach youth hockey in Lewis Twp.  He was an avid fan of the New York Rangers.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Frank Anthony Brown, Jr. and his wife, Amy, of FL, Robyn L. Bottorf and her husband, Jeremy, of Watsontown, Scott J. Brown and his wife, Dori, of FL, Anthony L. Romania, of Muncy, and Jennifer N. Romania Egawa and her husband, Rocky, of Bryn Mawr; and four grandchildren, Colin Brown, and Carter, Caiden and Bella Bottorf.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with his pastor, the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded immediately following the Mass outside the church.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
