Frank H. Odell Sr.

Frank H. Odell Sr., 96, of Muncy, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Valley View Rehab & Nursing Center, Montoursville.

Born January 5, 1922 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Raymond, Sr. and Lillian (McLees) Odell. He and his wife, the former Margaret E. Rickolt, celebrated 44 years of marriage before her death Nov. 6, 1992.

Frank was a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School and a graduate of the former Dickinson Junior College.

In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and worked as a heavy equipment operator in Persia.

Frank was a partner in RH Odell Inc. manufacturing concrete products including pipe, septic tanks, and septic system installation. They built and operated Valley View Mobile Home Park.  Retiring in 1974 after a fire destroyed the manufacturing plant, Frank became Margaret’s caregiver until her passing.

He was an active member of the Montoursville Presbyterian Church since 1958, serving in many positions.

Frank was a 70 year member of the Muncy Lodge 299, Irem Temple and the Scottish rite. He was active in the  local Military Vehicles Collectors Club (MVCC).

Being active in scouting for most of his life, Frank was awarded the Boy Scout Eagle rank in 1939 and was a Cub Scout Pack 42 Cub Master for 25 years. He was also a unit commissioner and board member of Susquehanna council for many years.

He volunteered for Susquehanna hospice following Margaret’s passing.

Frank enjoyed motorcycling in the area supporting many charity events including the annual Geisinger ride for the kids.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Frank H. Jr. and Mary Lou Odell, of Montoursville; one daughter, Susan O. Wolfe, of Montoursville; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Davis, of Montoursville and Richard Odell, of Atlantic City; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond H. and William Odell and a companion, Shirley Hetler.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 900 Elm St, Montoursville, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. David C. Smith, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Montoursville Presbyterian Church, 205 Tule St, Montoursville, PA 17754.
