Gary W. Hassenplug

Gary W. Hassenplug, 72, of Watsontown, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.

He was born November 18, 1946 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Charles and Mary (Carlson) Hassenplug. On May 1, 1977 he married the former Patricia Criswell, who survives. Together they celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Lewisburg High School. He began his career as a crane operator at the former Philco, Watsontown and then worked at Milton Manufacturing for many years. Gary was proud of completing Kepler’s Drivers Training Academy, Montandon, and later drove truck for Milton Transportation, Dick Ulrich and John Moran.

He was raised in the Methodist faith.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially trips out west.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Jodi Englehart; a stepson, Scott Burrows and his wife, Pam, of Milton; a brother, David Scott Hassenplug and his wife, Vickie, of Lewisburg; a sister, Janet Smith and her husband, Jim, of Selinsgrove; a sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Hassenplug, of Lewisburg; numerous grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was predeceased by a brother, Donald Hassenplug.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
