Gary M. Vance, 74, of 101 Boak Ave., Hughesville, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born May 11, 1942 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Clyde Vance. On December 28, 1995 he married the former Jane K. Miller, who survives. Together they celebrated 20 years of marriage.
Early in life, Gary worked at the former Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, Muncy. While living in Paris, Texas he worked sand blasting tombstones. Gary retired from Sams Club, Muncy, where he worked for many years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, making crafts and lawn ornaments. Gary loved planting and caring for a small garden every year. He was fond of football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Gary enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Gina Wood and her companion, Jeremy Abernatha, of Picture Rocks, Tammy Koch and her husband Ed Koch, Sr., of Muncy and Jody Banks and her companion, Ronnie Diemer, of Williamsport; a sister, Theresa Guthrie, of Muncy and her daughters, Jodi and Brenda; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Kepner and a brother-in-law, Bill Guthrie.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Muncy Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Max Walters Jr., of Lairdsville Faith Church, Hughesville.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
