Gaynel Seaman Ruhl

March 5, 1927 — February 24, 2017

Gaynel (Seaman) Ruhl, 89, of 70 Beverly Drive, Lewisburg, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017, at her home.

She was born March 5, 1927, in Scottdale, PA, the eldest daughter of the late Ray and Mildred (Rodgers) Seaman.  She married Harold “Bud” Ruhl on June 23, 1952 and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage until his passing on September 28, 2003.

Gaynel was a 1945 graduate of Lewisburg High School.  She worked at the Buffalo Valley Telephone Company for 49 years, first as a switchboard operator, then at the front desk where she warmly interacted with people coming in to pay their bills.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.

Gaynel’s friendly personality, her love of a good laugh, and her kind heart endeared her to family and friends.  She was a great gardener, a talented interior decorator, and an enthusiastic shopper. She was always concerned about the well-being of animals.

She is survived by one sister, Jane Reamer, of Oil City; one sister-in-law, June Seaman, of Lewisburg; three cousins, Sherry Moschgat, Deborah Polce and Roger Meyer; five nieces, Judy Clark, Paula Hlad, Valerie Reamer, Stacy Doorn and Sheila Seaman; and three nephews, Eric Reamer, Chris Comack, and Bradley Comack.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved brother, Terry Seaman, in 2012.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Robert Stoudt, officiating.

Interment will be by private ceremony in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to Mostly Mutts, 284 Little Mountain Rd., Sunbury, PA 17801or to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The family thanks all of Gaynel’s Home Instead caregivers, including Jody, Tammy, Robin, Nancy, Joyce, Gabby, and Dawn.
