George Berryman, Jr., 86, long time resident of Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Milton Nursing and Rehab Center shortly after being admitted.
He was born December 13, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late George Sr. and Ruth (Hummer) Berryman. On April 30, 1955, he married the former Jean Stahley, who survives. Together they celebrated 63 years of marriage.
George was a 1949 graduate of Lewisburg High School.
He served honorably in the United States Army.
George worked as a butcher at the former A&P Grocery Stores and later own and operated Montandon Meats.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg.
George enjoyed fishing while visiting Canada and golfing.
Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sarah Berryman, of Mifflinburg; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cathy and John Petro, of Allport, Lorri Mertz, of Montandon and Beth and Paul Mehallow, of Watsontown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Marilyn and Paul Boiardi, of Milton and Sister Laura Berryman, of New Jersey; eight grandchildren, Ken, Michael, Matthew, Jamie, Steph, Ann, Scott and River; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by two sisters, Lois Berryman and Nancy Sauers.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, 41 S. Eighth St., Lewisburg, with his pastor, Father Mark Wilke, officiating.
Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery at Twin Churches, Kelly Township.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
