George Clinton Engle, 84, of Allenwood, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Gatehouse, Williamsport.
He was born February 8, 1930 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Jacob Benjamin and Maude (Troxell) Engle. On July 9, 1955 he married the former June C. Dantonio, who survives. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.
George was a graduate of Lewisburg High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he piloted and served on a fireboat. George worked at Anchor-Darling Valve Co., Williamsport, where he started out in the foundry and eventually became a machinist. He also owned and operated his family farm.
He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Elimsport.
George was also a member of Lodge #401 F&AM, Watsontown, the Williamsport Scottish Rite and the Bower-Decker Post #251 American Legion, Montgomery.
George enjoyed the outdoors including camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and four wheeling. He was also an avid collector of milk bottles.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Sonia and James Murphy, of Hughesville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jacob and Zona Engle, of Mifflinburg and Nevin and Janet Engle, of Bellefonte; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mildred and Curtis Noll, of New Columbia and Grace Buckley, of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren and spouses, Corey F. Murphy and his wife, Michelle and their children, Alexandra, Alaina and Jonah, and Kelsey Leighann Hodson and her husband Steve.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Richard and Arthur Engle; and two sisters, Anna Dershem and Ruth Clemens.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown where a Masonic Service will be held at 5:45 p.m.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Methodist Church, 715 Pikes Peak Rd., Allenwood with his minister, Pastor Michael Hill, officiating
Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
